[So yeah that event wasn't so fun but HEY NOW THERE IS A PACKAGE ADDRESSED TO WALLY.

He opens it up and... there's nothing inside. Weird. He shakes it a little, as if that would dislodge something hidden but... there's nothing inside.

But. Hey. He's...

...feeling pretty speedy.

He grins, and without a second thought he sprints down the road at about sixty miles an hour.

And then he starts going faster.

And faster.

He's circled the town a few times over the course of the next ten minutes at speeds approaching the speed of sound, which is pretty damn fast, okay. But by the time he zips back to the mailbox at 1665 Nelson, he's frowning a little.]

...still not fast enough. But hey, better than nothing.

[And then he realizes.]

...oops. I hope no one noticed that.

[Because he just raced around Mayfield in civilian clothes. Not exactly conducive to a secret identity.

Over the course of the day you might see your friendly neighborhood Flash, in full costume, racing around town. There's not a whole lot to do, but man it feels good to be running again, even if it's not as fast as he can go normally. Give a shout, he may stop and talk to you!

Of course, it's also possible you might have caught a glimpse of Wally running around this morning in his normal clothes out of the corner of your eye. Maybe. It's possible. But are you really sure?]

[Flash is grinning like an idiot okay, he is so excited. He bounces a little where he's standing because man he just can't stand still.]

Yup! Partly, anyway. Can't go as fast as I should be able to go, but hey. Baby steps, I guess. Super fast baby steps.

What speed can you reach?

Well it's hard to say for sure but I think I'm clocking in at around the speed of sound at top speed right now. Don't think I can go past it at the moment.

Well, that's not bad at all. Would you like for me time you? It'd be nice to have some kind of guidelines about your speed.

For that we'd have to measure the distance too, and I don't think we've got anything to do that. Unless you want to use a ruler.

How far do you think it is from here to the center of town and back?

[He gets into a starting position.]

[And he zips away.]

[In four seconds he's back.]

Wow, that was around 4 seconds. I think it's wonderful, Wally.

Yeah, I tried to get about ten miles in, so... uh... math.

[He's not even winded.]

Around 8000Milles per hour? Give it or take, probably more.

That's.. more than the speed of sound. Rather impressive, no wonder you find the world slow.

[He starts talking a little bit faster as he works it out in his head, though the way he talks about the speed of sound, he's probably worked that out before.]

Speed of sound is about 768 miles per hour, so divide that by 60 you get about 12 miles per minute, divided by 60 is about 0.2 miles per second. so multiply that by ten you get two seconds, so I was going at half the speed of sound, give or take.
